Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for all aspects of accounting related to the community management of multiple senior living portfolios. Ensuring compliance with U.S. General Accepted Accounting Policies (GAAP), internal policies, capital partner policies, and external audits.
- Ensures timely and accurate monthly financial reporting to all communities, leadership teams, and capital partners in compliance with facility management agreements.
- Responsible for ensuring proper internal controls are maintained and in compliance with corporate policies.
- Supervise and assist the ESL accounting team in the maintenance and documentation of property accounting records and processes including but not limited to cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, revenue recognition, operating expense accruals, and amortization/depreciation.
- Manage capital partner inquiries in regard to accounting items including financial statements, audit requests and tax related inquiries.
- Assist in overseeing all aspects of the accounts payable department and in transition and implementation of accounting software, and any additional software required by capital partners and operations. Also, works closely with other department groups on problems involving accounting systems.
- Oversee and participate in period-end accounting close process to ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and reports.
- Assist ESL accounting team in determining and applying proper accounting treatment for both routine and complex transactions and adhere to all lender reporting and various debt covenants.
- Oversee the onboarding of new communities and offboarding of former communities by working closely with the ESL Asset Management and Development Accounting teams to ensure smooth transition.
- Assist Senior Accountants with weekly cash projections and ESL finance team with community level cash forecasting.
- Ensure workloads for staff are optimal and efficient for the benefit of the company including staffing and processes.
- Manage, develop and mentor senior and staff property accountants, which includes hiring, training, overseeing, and reviewing performance, promoting, and terminating.

- Review ESL accounting contracts with capital partners and vendors to ensure proper invoicing practice.
- Responsible for maintaining the accounting system and becoming a "super" user for senior and staff accountants to utilize as a resource for any systems related questions.
- Assist with the implementation of accounting software, and any additional software required by capital partners or operations. Also, work closely with other department groups on problems involving accounting systems.
- Partner with development and corporate accounting teams to perpetuate a culture of financial discipline and participate in trainings and strive to increase and improve existing skills. Handle all matters with the highest level of confidentiality.
- Drive process improvement and automation efforts to streamline while adhering to company policies and procedures.
- Prioritize projects, manage deliverables and timelines while maintaining integrity, quality, and accuracy.
- Collaborates with Senior Living community Executive Directors and ESL corporate team to establish and maintain processes affecting accounting team and operations team.
- Partner with HR/payroll team to ensure payroll timeliness and accuracy.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business - Preferred
- Business Courses or relevant experience - Preferred
Experience:
- 7+ years experience in senior living or multifamily property accounting/finance - Required
- 4+ years experience managing a team - Required
Skills:
- Solid understanding of GAAP
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and related products
- Strong organizational skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Experience with Yardi

- Compensation: $130,000 - $160,000 / year
