JOB DESCRIPTION TEMPLATE

Position Title: Senior Consultant, Fund Accounting

Role Description:

The Senior Consultant may be an individual contributor or have two to three direct reports. This individual should have strong Technical and Accounting background, Analytical skills, ability to manage deliverables independently and experience within the Financial Services industry. The position involves working in projects, and meeting deliverables, in line with the timelines and expectations set. It is also desirable, for the candidate to have prior experience, working in projects or migrations.

  • Good analytical, numerical and reasoning skills
  • Able to effectively present to global stakeholders/clients
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Good business knowledge and deep understanding of process
  • Strong knowledge of Financial products and its underlying investments like Equity, Fixed Income, Derivatives, OTC, etc.,
  • Good Understanding of tools like GIO and CCW would be an added advantage
  • Excellent spoken and written English, and the ability to write Business correspondence
  • Demonstrates willingness to help others outside team
  • Demonstrate high ethical standards


Major Duties / Key Responsibilities:
  • To be the technical and subject matter expert on the team and handle all specific project requirements
  • Responsible for co-coordinating/leading migrations and testing, and maintaining procedure documents in the team
  • Analytically and procedurally competent to lead the team on cross-function project deliverables
  • Act as the point of escalation for any issues related to project/work stream
  • Ensure that knowledge gaps are identified within the team and the necessary trainings are delivered.
  • Should be able to handle critical queries/issues and escalate on a timely manner
  • Engage with teams for process updates and disseminate the same to the larger team
  • Should be capable of adding and reviewing various control checks
  • Prepare and update SOP, training material, checklists, trackers, etc.
  • Conduct training for existing and new team members
  • Should have the ability to maintain various MIS reports and should ensure timely completion of all the MIS and other ad-hoc reports to be submitted to management
  • Ability to work on ad-hoc activities
  • Understand and minimize risks associated with the process
  • Respond flexibly to the needs of the current situation, amend own work program to deliver desired outputs
  • Ensure procedures in relation to all tasks are adhered to
  • Identify, assist and delegate projects/assignments and tasks to individuals and peers
  • Provide progression feedback and recognition to the individuals in the project team
  • Maintain accountability for the projects/assignments
  • Mentor individuals and peers during projects and assignments
  • Cascade communications related to projects, programs to the team


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with emphasis in Finance and Accounting, CA/CPA/CMA/CFA is an added advantage
  • Minimum 9-12 years of work experience in financial industry, with at least 8 years in Fund Accounting/Administration
  • Experience in Mutual Funds, Hedge Funds or Financial Services strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, familiarity with financial markets and instruments
  • Should be flexible for shifts and extended working hours as per business requirements
  • 3 years as a Team Leader to move as a Section Manager currently at an Officer level.
  • 24 months as a Consultant to move as a Senior Consultant. Movement within Senior Consultant and Section Manager is applicable if they have prior 36 months of people management experience.
