General Description of Job

The Tax Accountant within India will be a member of the Global Tax & Tax Shared Service team and will be responsible for providing support for all facets of Indirect tax including tax accounting, compliance, planning and controversy within APAC & EMEA region in close coordination with India Tax lead & Global Tax team.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

Candidate will be involved in the preparation of workpapers for Indirect Tax returns, Tax audits, Tax accounting, Tax compliance etc. for Asia Pacific & EMEA etc.as well as similar tax matters on a global level.

The position will be responsible for:

  • Assist in gathering necessary backup support documentation for VAT/GST reporting, request VAT/GST invoice revisions and VAT/GST invoice credits as necessary
  • Manage the preparation of complex / high volume VAT/GST declarations from beginning to end, including data collection, preparation in accordance with the filing protocol, submission, payment, and upload in the VAT/GST filing dashboard
  • Ensure that VAT/GST accounting accounts are correct and reconciled with the other relevant data, such as VAT/GST declarations, P&L, and Intrastat filings
  • Complete all VAT/GST related accounting activities upon which VAT/GST returns depend, including control checks of transaction data and review of supporting tax documentation to identify any errors or anomalies
  • Perform VAT/GST accounts reconciliation and VAT/GST analysis

  • To ensure that the Periodic VAT/GST journals are uploaded to GL on a timely basis, and that a robust control environment exists around the Management Accounts VAT/GST process
  • Develop and implement tax processes and procedures.
  • Provide support to teams like AP, Logistic, Legal, IT, sales, HR teams on need basis.
  • Implement global and regional tax initiatives including tax project.
  • Support the Tax Lead in leading and coordinating with external service providers
  • Timely payment of Indirect payments where necessary


Professional Skills/Experience

Professional Skills
  • Must have:
    • Experience in a US Multinational environment and/or Tax firm
    • Knowledge in the Tax rules for APJ & EMEA.
    • Strong to excellent Excel skills to work comfortably with data and complex computations.


  • Required skills include:
    • Initiative and ability to work independently.
    • Ability to manage external and internal relationships.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Experience
  • Required:
    • CA, MBA Finance or Equivalent with 5+ years of relevant US MNC experience in an Indirect Tax function.


  • Prefer:
    • Knowledge in tax technology tools like Alteryx, SABRIX etc.
    • Experience in the software industry.
    • US MNC experience in an Indirect Tax function
