Role Description Summary:

The Controller is responsible for overseeing the accounting department, its goal of producing timely and accurate financials, and all of its day-to-day functions to ensure the accurate representation of the financial condition of the Company.

The Controller is the direct supervisor for the Accounting Team. The Team's duties & responsibilities include the assurance of and the maintenance of:

  • The general ledger and ensuring the proper coding of transactions,
  • The financial close cycle to produce timely, accurate, and complete financial statements,
  • The Company's financial obligations are paid timely and accurately,
  • Accounts receivables are collected in a timely manner and revenue is recognized properly,
  • Bank reconciliations are completed on a weekly basis,
  • Cash collections are reconciled daily, and any discrepancies are communicated with Operations,
  • The Chart of accounts,
  • An orderly accounting system,
  • A system of controls over accounting transactions,
  • The filing of the various annual and monthly state and local taxes,
  • Coordinating the preparation of the corporate annual taxes with the Company's outside CPA firm,
  • The Company's purchasing card system,
  • Payroll general ledger coding in conjunction with HR and the company's payroll providers,
  • Recommends benchmarks against which to measure the performance of Company operations,
  • Calculating and issuing financial and operating metrics
  • Managing the production of the annual budget, revised forecasts, and rolling cash flow projections,
  • Calculating variances from the budget and report significant issues to management,
  • Coaching direct reports and ensures ongoing professional development.
  • Providing financial analyses as needed, for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
  • Be the team lead for continuous process improvement.
  • Team Member may be required to perform other duties.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or closely related field plus 5+ years of experience, or proven equivalent experience required.
  • Master of Accountancy, Certified Public Accountant, and/or Certified Management Accountant designations are preferred.
