Job Description:
The position involves overseeing financial administration, business planning, grant fiscal management, and budgeting. The candidate should be detail-oriented, maintain confidentiality, and possess analytical skills in forecasting, cost reduction, and operational performance.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Executive Director on operational and strategic issues, providing strategic recommendations based on financial analysis.
- Contribute to ongoing strategic planning as part of the senior management team.
- Manage short and long-term budgetary planning aligned with the organization's strategic plan.
- Engage with the board finance committee on operating model issues.
Financial and Operational Management:
- Oversee budgeting and its implementation to monitor progress and present operational metrics.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and grant funder requirements.
- Prepare and communicate financial statements, manage cash flow and forecasting, and oversee audit activities.
- Review and recommend improvements to finance-related procedures and processes.
Grants Management:
- Oversee preparation, monitoring, and reporting for all grants.
- Coordinate budgeting process for grants and ensure proper recording of grant transactions.
- Manage grant invoices, receivables, and report on significant variances.
- Perform monthly general ledger account reconciliations and analysis.
Team Management:
- Develop and manage Finance Department staff.
- Facilitate cross-department collaboration among senior management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business; CPA or MBA preferred.
- Eight to ten years of financial and operations management experience.
- Previous non-profit federal grants financial management experience.
- Proven business partnership and demonstrated excellence in finance, accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting.
