Accountant - Statutory Reporting

Overview

Join this exciting, newly created team focusing on global statutory reporting. Join a team of finance professionals supporting the external audits of various Mastercard companies worldwide. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a finance background, with the ability to develop a sound understanding on Mastercard systems and processes and contributes to the finance team by consistently producing exceptional results.

This job is ideal for a person with a strong technical accounting background and good analytical skills. The critical components are a keen interest in learning and developing as a finance professional at a leading multinational company.

Role

  • Performs accounting activities (e.g., reconciliations, journal entries) in accordance with accounting principles and standards to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, laws and reporting requirements
  • May assists with internal financial reporting, performs comprehensive trend analysis and data mining; assesses for completeness
  • Executes and supports internal and external controls
  • Makes suggestions for process improvements to supervisor
  • Assists in supporting the business partner relationship, including performing any ad-hoc analysis and reporting
  • Assists in supporting the lead accountant or team manager in providing accurate, complete and high quality financial information to external auditors
  • Works with the Global Shared Services Centre employees in analysing accounting data/information subject to external audits
  • Prepares lead schedules and supporting information to support the external audit process

About You

Skills & Experience

The Ideal Candidate Would Have

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Qualified or part qualified Accountant (ACA, AMCA, ACCA)
  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements and financial reporting requirements
  • Ability to research, interpret and apply accounting guidance, e.g., GAAP, to provide the appropriate accounting treatment to financial statements and ensure consistent application and adherence to accounting policies
  • Consistently delivers accurate work on a timely basis
  • Gains exposure to reviewing and analyzing own work for appropriate accounting treatment
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple requests within a condensed timeframe
  • Shows initiative in building relationships with colleagues from multiple areas within Mastercard
  • Good MS Excel skills essential
  • Experience in statutory reporting in IFRS and/or US GAAP
  • Experience working with external auditors and consultants beneficial
  • Oracle/Hyperion skills beneficial
