Primary Job Function:
DEPARTMENT FUNCTION / OBJECTIVE - The Primary objective is to provide Financial Leadership for the EPD India Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Supply Chain organization, by developing, implementing and maintaining Policies and Procedures that ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results and that provide adequate internal controls. Additional objectives are to provide Financial Planning, Analysis, and Performance Measurement in the deployment of resources to achieve strategic and day to day business objectives.
PRIMARY FUNCTION : As Regional Controller, in conjunction with the other Operations Management Members, formulate, organize and implement the strategic plans, operating policies and management controls, required to achieve business objectives and effective and efficient commitment of financial resources. Develop plans for improved financial and operating systems to meet requirements of the business. Additionally, engage with applicable Area and Affiliate IFO Finance Directors to develop and implement SOX/Audit Compliant Policies, Processes & Internal Controls, to ensure appropriate finance organization structure for supporting the Plants and Supply Chain organization in the Region and assure appropriate development of the Plant and Head Office based functional staffs.
Core Job Responsibilities:
Participate as a member of the staff, of the EPD India Regional Manufacturing & Supply Chain Director, for providing financial guidance, analysis and stewardship for achievement of short term and long term strategic objectives of the region.
In conjunction with the Plant Finance teams and External Manufacturing team, ensure development of standard costs and other cost analysis for existing and new products, in compliance with local, international and corporate policies. Ensure that there is involvement with commercial groups, plants, technical support, materials management as required, to provide analysis for evaluation of alternatives and effective decision making.
Ensure that plant finance and external manufacturing sites, CFA's/Hub's and staff comply with all local, international and corporate policies and standard operating procedures required for operation, and all financial transactions are completed in accurate and timely manner.
Provide support and guidance to plant finance and external manufacturing team in carrying out their responsibilities and to ensure consistency and accuracy of plant financial records and reports and effectiveness of plant operating systems & controls.
Lead the preparation, review and analysis of the annual profit plan and quarterly Rolling LBE's for the Region in conjunction with the plants, external manufacturing, freight & distribution team, & Regional Director.
Participate in the development, review and presentation of all financial analyses supporting the Area and EPD manufacturing strategies and sourcing decisions as well as in response to EPD Commercial inquiries. Ensure proper reporting and planning procedures are employed in these analyses to assure proper information for management decision making. Providing guidance and counsel to the Regions management team on key strategic and operational decisions.
Participate in the development, review and presentation of key Region Capital Expenditures. Ensure proper reporting and planning procedures are employed to assure proper information for management decision making.
As necessary, involve Corporate Tax & Transfer Pricing personnel on any initiatives and/or strategies that may impact local affiliate profits, taxes, local import/export duties and/or Corporate Taxes.
In conjunction with the International Finance Operations (IFO) & Commercial Finance Directors, ensure that standard product cost information remains proprietary and that usage of standard product cost data outside of EPO is controlled and monitored.
Participate in Plant & EPO headquarters finance resource development for EPO Controllership including: promotion/transfers, organizational assessments, succession planning and development of high potential individuals. Support and handle legal statutory audits, statutory cost audit, local internal audit, Abbott internal Chicago audit and local CFA audits. Supervision and monitoring of direct and indirect staff located at Mumbai, Baddi and Goa Plants.

Provide Financial Controlling and Leadership to the EPO India region. EPO India is unique as compared to other Regions, as it is the only region which is responsible for not only Manufacturing but also for freight and distribution for entire EPD India. EPO India is responsible for delivering from 2 internal plants ($110 MM thruput) and more than 105 external suppliers, whose throughput value is in excess of US$ 242 MM and supports EPD Commercial Sales in excess of US$ 1.2BN Sales. From India distribution perspective, also oversees financial operations of more than 23 CFA's and 4 distribution hubs. Position is responsible for COGS of $353MM.
Scope Of Authority:
This position directs the financial activities of the area, pertaining to manufacturing, procurement, planning and freight and distribution. This position ensures that this group is complying with all local, international and corporate financial policies and procedures required to effectively monitor and control operations. Establishes appropriate methods for developing and maintaining product costs and budgets for strategic business planning and evaluation of operations performance. This position works directly with Regional Director - Manufacturing & Supply Chain and his staff in the development of business strategies and directs analyses required for decision making. This position functionally reports to EPD Finance Director based at Mumbai.
Minimum Education:
CA/ICWA.
Minimum Experience/Training Required:
10-15 years of experience in entire gamut of finance function/activities, including 5 - 8 years of supervisory experience, 5 - 8 years' experience in FP&A with good understanding of the business, 2 - 5 years' experience in handling Accounting/Taxation/Audits.
Extensive Understanding of Local GAAP's, Abbott Financial Policies/Manuals, Abbott's Reporting Requirements, knowledge of Indian Pharma Market, various direct and indirect tax laws viz., Income Tax, Excise, Sales Tax and export/import policies of government.
