Description

Financial Management and Operations
  • Oversee all financial operations, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial records and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage cash flow, financial risk, and investments to maintain organizational financial health, including overseeing the investment portfolio and outside investment managers.
  • Lead the preparation of financial statements and reports for senior leadership, Board of Directors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Implement and review financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance.

Financial Strategy and Planning
  • Lead the annual and multi-year budgeting process, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and optimal resource allocation.
  • Provide financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting to support executive decision-making.
  • Monitor financial performance and advise on operational efficiency, risk management, and financial impact.

Risk Management
  • Chair the Risk Management Committee and maintain the organization's risk register.
  • Ensure compliance with financial, legal, and regulatory requirements, including managing audits and tax filings.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, regulators, and financial institutions.

Financial Reporting and Compliance
  • Oversee the preparation of financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and donor-specific financial reporting requirements, particularly in relation to grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements.

Leadership and Team Management
  • Lead and mentor the finance and administrative team to ensure high performance and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance team productivity, collaboration, and growth.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to drive financial efficiency, manage risks, and optimize overall financial performance.

Other Duties
  • Contribute to the development of organizational strategies, priorities, and initiatives.
  • Support financial oversight of programmatic and operational activities, ensuring appropriate financial governance and effective fund management.

Profile

  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in financial management, accounting, and operations, ideally within a large non-profit or complex business environment.
  • Strong experience in nonprofit accounting, including fund and grant accounting, compliance, and regulatory reporting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial forecasting, risk management, and investment oversight.
  • Proven track record of leading teams and managing cross-functional financial operations.
  • Excellent analytic and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. An MBA or equivalent advanced degree is preferred.
