Description
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Review and ensure compliance with accounting standards (GAAP or IFRS) in financial reporting.
- Prepare and present financial reports to senior management for decision-making and strategic planning.
- Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded and reconciled.
- Review general ledger entries and journal entries to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure proper documentation and supporting evidence for financial transactions during the close process.
- Oversee inventory management and accounting, ensuring accurate valuation of inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS).
- Collaborate with operations and merchandising teams to monitor inventory levels, margins, and turnover rates.
- Perform regular inventory reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely processing and accurate recording of transactions.
- Monitor and manage vendor and customer payments, ensuring compliance with payment terms.
- Develop strategies to optimize cash flow and manage working capital effectively.
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
- Conduct regular audits of financial transactions and internal processes to detect and prevent errors or fraud.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including preparation and filing of tax returns, and coordinate with external auditors during audits.
- Supervise and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure high performance and professional growth.
- Allocate resources effectively to ensure all accounting functions are carried out efficiently and within deadlines.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to team members.
- Evaluate and improve accounting processes, systems, and workflows to increase efficiency and reduce errors.
- Implement and optimize accounting software and tools, ensuring the team uses the most effective systems.
- Work with IT and other departments to ensure seamless integration between accounting systems and other business functions.
Profile
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role, preferably within the retail or consumer goods industry.
- Strong experience with inventory accounting, cost of goods sold (COGS), and retail financials.
- Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Proficient in using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP) and advanced Excel skills.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Detail-oriented, with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team.
