Senior Manager - Ledger Close Production Accountant

• Conduct the ledger close process in accordance with UK GAAP principles ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions related to premiums, claims, expenses, bank and accounts payables
• Collate data from various sources and perform reconciliations to validate the completeness and accuracy of the data in the statutory ledger and investigate and resolve any differences
• Produce any balance sheet reconciliations/calculations to support manual journals and prepare and post journal entries into the statutory ledgers
• Conduct thorough account reconciliations to ensure consistency and correctness of financial data
• Generate premium, claims and commissions reports for use by other teams across M&G
• Calculate monthly accruals and make quarterly payments
• Perform analysis of monthly movements and analyse significant movements
• Adhere with current accounting standards and Insurance procedures to maintain a robust financial control regime
• Provide support to external audit process for areas of responsibility

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Educational Qualification

Knowledge & Skills:

• Working understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS accounting principles.
• Knowledge of Solvency is advantageous
• Ability to meticulously review financial data and identify discrepancies to ensure accuracy in reporting
• Proficiency in analysing financial data and performing reconciliations
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively and ensure tight deadlines are met
• Ability to communicate issues and discrepancies to senior stakeholders
• Ability to identity issues and develop solutions efficiently
• Adept at collaborating with team members and contribute to a team-oriented environment

Experience:

• Previous experience in a Finance Operations function for a Life Insurer.
• Competence in using Oracle, financial reporting tools and advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.

Educational Qualification:

• Chartered accountant qualification (CA) or the equivalent.
