Select Sires, Inc. is currently seeking candidates to join our team as an Accounting Manager. This salaried, exempt position is at our Plain City, OH facility and reports to the Corporate Controller.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as a positive representation of the Select Sires, Inc. Mission and Core Values.
  • Supervise accounting support staff, including the Accounts Payable Coordinator, Contracts Administrator, and Staff Accountant.
  • Develop accounting support staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships.
  • Actively manage and review general ledger entries.
  • Generate accurate monthly and quarterly financial statements on a timely basis. Assist Corporate Controller with Consolidation. Provide financial statements and compliance reports to the bank as required.
  • Plan and coordinate the annual budget process and generate the annual budget report.
  • Monitor financial results compared to budget and reconcile significant variances.
  • Ensure accounts receivable and accounts payable functions are administered accurately and timely.
  • Plan and coordinate preparations for the fieldwork related to the annual audit of the Company's financial statements by independent outside auditors and serve as the main liaison to the field audit staff. This includes providing them with such information in a timely and accurate manner, as they may need to complete their function and review their work for accuracy satisfactorily.
  • Direct the Contract Administrator and Staff Accountant to process herd development and partnership fee payments as well as bull consignment and royalty payments. This includes monthly oversight and reviews of program outputs to ensure accuracy of data and payments.
  • Direct the Staff Accountant to administer property and casualty liability insurance programs.
  • In conjunction with the Staff Accountant, serve as backup for the functions performed by the Accounts Payable Coordinator. This includes direct oversight of all payments regardless of type (e.g., ACH, Auto Debit, Check, Wire, etc.)
  • In conjunction with the Staff Accountant, serve as liaison to the Company's tax advisors. This includes providing them with information accurately and timely, as they may need to satisfactorily prepare the Company's state (several/various) and federal activity, excise, franchise, income, sales, and/or use tax returns and reviewing their work for accuracy.

Typical office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM 4:30 PM. Work schedules and duties are subject to change to meet departmental needs.

Requirements:

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES OF AN ACCOUNTING MANAGER :
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with other financial systems.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills with the ability to translate analytical findings into actionable solutions/processes.
  • Superior ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Excellent teamwork, relationship building, customer service and coordinative skills are required.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Capability to prioritize tasks and delegate responsibilities.
  • Capacity to function well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable means of transportation to report to work on time

  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE OF AN ACCOUNTING MANAGER :
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or other related field
  • 5+ years of accounting experience

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE OF AN ACCOUNTING MANAGER :
  • CPA, MBA, CGMA or CMA certification(s)
  • Previous experience with Acumatica

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF AN ACCOUNTING MANAGER :
  • Ability to occasionally (1-3 hours) stand/walk
  • Ability to constantly (6-8 hours) sit
