The Indian accounting organization supports accounting, financial reporting, internal control, inter company, transfer pricing activities and support new business launches.
We are currently looking for an experienced leader to head Financial Reporting for India. Successful candidates for this position will have the equivalent of 15+ years of professional experience with financial accounting, reporting and internal control related responsibilities. This position will have responsibility for leading all parts of our financial reporting process and will be expected to understand and implement internal control design concepts sufficient to assess the effectiveness of controls in their area. The position is also the lead for managing the statutory audit. Extensive paper writing for technical accounting research and position paper writing will also be a requirement of this position.
This position is expected to have a good sense of ownership, ability to identify process improvement opportunities, drive positive change across the organization, and enhance partnerships between accounting and various business finance, operations accounting and IT groups. The position involves significant interactions with senior finance and accounting leaders within Amazon globally.
Key job responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Leading the statutory and tax audits for all India entities and managing all aspects of the auditor relationship
- Setting the strategy and driving acceleration of the statutory audit completion
- Managing the financial reporting and compliance team for all India entities.
- Staying current, anticipating upcoming changes to regulations and strategically paving the way for preparing compliance readiness.
- Running balance sheet reviews for finance and accounting leadership
- Driving efficiencies in business processes and guiding business teams on accounting areas.
- Evaluating accounting positions for new projects and evaluating/writing technical position paper.
- Partnering with the members of the global accounting organization to develop process improvement initiatives, and assist in the identification of accounting standards for global consistency.
Basic Qualifications
- 15+ years of relevant experience in big 4 audit firms, multi-national corporate or operational accounting experience.
- CA or CPA qualification is a must.
- Good communications skills and able to work effectively with teams in India and Globally.
- Expertise in Indian Accounting Standards and proficient in US Gaap
- Communicate frequently with external auditors and regulators with all applicable laws, pronouncements and regulations.
- The successful candidate will be a self-starter and a collaborative team-player
- Candidate will also have excellent written communication skills, solid organizational, risk assessment and IT aptitude.
- Experience of managing relationship with Big 4 auditors will be an added advantage
Preferred Qualifications
- Chartered Accountant with Big 4 experience in audit and reporting
