Vice President - Ledger Close Production Accounting Lead

Accountabilities/Responsibilities

• Responsible for the General ledger close process in accordance with UK GAAP and IFRS ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions related to premiums, claims, expenses, bank and accounts payables
• Maintain the statutory ledgers and sub-ledgers for the assigned M&G insurance entities
• Review balance sheet reconciliations/calculations to support the accuracy and completeness of manual journals
• Communicate issues and discrepancies identified and potential solutions to senior stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with current accounting standards and Insurance procedures to maintain a robust financial control regime
• Responsible for ensuring internal controls are effective, compliant and timely with applicable standards and regulations.
• Foster a collaborative environment and ensure staff adhere to financial policies and procedures
• Identify and implement improvements to the ledger close process to enhance efficiencies and accuracy
• Manage the transition and continued compliance with finance change projects
• Manage and support external audit process for areas of responsibility

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Educational Qualification

Knowledge & Skills:

• Working understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS accounting principles
• Knowledge of Solvency is advantageous
• Leadership skills to oversee the ledger close process and ensure effective stakeholder management
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively and ensure tight deadlines are met
• Ability to communicate issues and discrepancies to senior stakeholders
• Ability to investigate and resolve financial reporting issues and discrepancies effectively
• Adept at building relationships across balance sheet and revenue and expense accountants

Experience:

• Previous experience in a Finance Operations function or ledger management for a Life Insurer

Educational Qualification:

• Chartered accountant qualification (CA) or the equivalent
