We are seeking a seasoned Senior Accountant who is passionate about leading a department and guiding the financial aspects of our business as we continue to expand. Position Overview: We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, including processing purchase orders (POs), invoicing, and monitoring budgets. You will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information and will be actively involved in identifying cost-saving opportunities, supporting strategic decision-making, and mentoring junior accounting staff. This position requires a hands-on approach and the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams within ONYX and our sister company, Omega.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage Accounting Operations: Oversee the processing of POs, invoicing, and accounts payable/receivable functions, ensuring accurate and timely completion of all tasks.

Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and budgets, identifying areas of improvement and recommending actionable solutions.

Budget Monitoring: Track and monitor budgets, ensuring alignment with company goals and providing insights to support financial planning and decision-making.

Cost Reduction Initiatives: Actively seek out and implement cost-saving measures, collaborating with purchasing and operations teams to optimize spending.

Mentorship and Training: Provide mentorship and training to junior accounting staff at ONYX and Omega, enhancing their understanding of financial processes and improving the accuracy of information provided to the group accountants.

Compliance and Audit Support: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and assist in preparing for external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.

Policy Development: Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency and ensure regulatory compliance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to support business planning, forecasting, and other financial initiatives.

Stay Informed: Keep up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure ONYX remains compliant and competitive.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

CPA certification preferred

Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in the aviation or aerospace industry

Strong knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial accounting standards

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software systems

Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and levels of the organization

Experience with ERP systems, such as SAP or Oracle, is a plus
