How will you make an impact in this role?
The Regulatory Reporting team delivers Bank Holding Company regulatory reports in accordance with Federal Reserve requirements for American Express Company and its underlying subsidiaries. We review, analyze, and report financial information predominantly using the automated Regulatory Reporting Delivery (RRD) platform. We collaborate with multiple teams across Finance and Technology as well as the external regulators. Currently the regulatory reporting team is involved in a multiyear effort to support the risk category change for American Express as a Bank Holding Company.
This individual will be primarily responsible for production of regulatory filings and supporting strategic initiatives & projects. The position will involve close interactions with the regulators and leadership to comply with any new regulations and changes to regulatory reporting requirements.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensure compliance with Federal Reserve and other regulatory reporting requirements, the Company's internal review procedures and all other applicable policies and procedures, including data governance.
- Review detailed instructions for various reports and ensure compliance with the Federal Reserve requirements.
- Through the strategic initiatives & projects, help drive continuous process improvements, increase level of automation, strengthen controls & enhance process documentation.
- Drive implementation of analytical and reporting processes, procedures and systems using the Company's control framework.
- Collaborate with External Reporting teams, Technology, and other Subject Matter Experts to drive consistency in reporting.
- Work closely with Financial Reporting Quality and Assurance organization (FRQA) to support Quality Assurance reviews of regulatory report, automation efforts, and Data Governance related activities.
- Provide regular coaching and development to direct reports.
- Support flexibility to work a hybrid schedule.
Experience/Qualifications:
- 5 years' experience in Finance, strong understanding of Controllership & External Reporting functions.
- Chartered Accountant/Certified Public Accountant is a plus.
- Experience in External Reporting desired but not mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP accounting and reporting.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to meet critical deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proven track record of process improvements, embracing new technologies and strengthening controls.
- Strong communication and relationship/collaboration skills.
- Proven leader with the ability and desire to coach and develop others.
- Proficient usage of Microsoft applications.
- Working knowledge of Oracle applications a plus.
