Our company is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to maintain our financial records with precision and to compile and analyze financial data with the utmost accuracy. You will apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepares financial reports. Maintain control of accounts and records in such areas as disbursements, revenue, expenses, fixed assets, equity transactions, tax payments, and income. Comply and analyze financial information to record transactions, prepare reports; reviews and verifies accuracy. Prepare financial statements and other accounting schedules and reports. This position is based in our Northridge, CA office. This is an exempt, non-supervisory, full-time position.

Primary responsibilities may include:
  • Prepares journal entries as required; supports month-end close process. Analyzes and explains variances to budget.
  • Prepares balance sheet account reconciliations each month to identify apparent errors, discrepancies and out-of-balance conditions; resolves related problems in conjunction with other members of the accounting and finance staff.
  • Preparation, review and presentation of financial statements and other financial reports in accordance with GAAP or other official guidelines and requirements
  • Support critical projects including accounting software updates, adoption of new accounting pronouncements and other accounting department initiatives.
  • Fixed asset accounting, including recording asset acquisitions and disposals, tracking construction in progress. Support property tax returns.
  • Supports the timekeeping and payroll process.
  • Provides audit support during annual financial audit, DCAA audits and tax audits.
  • Develop recommendations to optimize company's financial systems and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with internal controls and GAAP.

Experiences and Background We Look For-
  • BSc/BA in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in increasingly responsible accounting positions.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Expert proficient in MS office (Excel, PowerPoint, MS Projects).
  • Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop, evaluate and implement solutions.
Nice to have-
  • Advanced understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
  • Effective verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting and financial control processes
  • Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail
  • In-depth experience and working knowledge of automated accounting systems.
  • Experience in government contract accounting and knowledge of the FAR strongly.
  • CPA/CMA; MBA
  • Costpoint Deltek experience.
The salary range for this role is $120,000 to $140,000; however, Arete considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to: the position and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.

U.S. citizenship is required to meet position eligibility.
