Revenue Accounting Specialist

Toast is driven by building the all-in-one restaurant platform that helps restaurants operate their business, increase sales, engage guests, and keep employees happy. The Revenue Accountant will report to the Revenue Accounting Manager and is responsible for implementing revenue policies, reviewing revenue transactions, and ensuring that revenue is recognized in accordance with US GAAP. This is a challenging, highly visible role that requires excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

About this roll * (Responsibilities)
  • Prepare revenue month-end journals and associated reconciliations by working with different areas of the business to ensure all transactions are accounted for in accordance with Company policies and US GAAP.
  • Prepare and review revenue month-end journal entries and reconciliations in accordance with GAAP by working cross-functionally with other parts of the business.
  • Collaborate with GL Accounting, Billing Operations, and F&S teams to support all close related activities through NetSuite
  • Assist in developing dashboards for variance, trend and other analysis to identify issues and resolve as required.
  • Support documentation and continuous process improvement for Revenue policies, controls, and systems

Do you have the right ingredients* ? (Requirements)
  • 2.5 plus years of revenue recognition experience, preferably industry experience with in-depth knowledge of accounting standards
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting and/or finance
  • Good knowledge of revenue accounting standard ASC-606 and contingencies, loss recoveries and guarantees standard ASC-450
  • Ability to perform tasks related to revenue recognition, loss recoveries, contingent liabilities and apply relevant accounting guidance
  • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
  • Team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and at various levels within an organization
  • Shift timing 2PM -11PM

Special Sauce* (Nice to Haves)
  • Experience with NetSuite, Salesforce and Snowflake is highly desirable.
  • Ability to analyze large sets of data using specialised tools such as Macros, Power Query, Power BI etc.
  • Experience with Data visualisation, looker, Hex and/or other analytic tools.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification
