Responsibilities:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The ideal candidate will be reliable, having a background in general accounting as well as experience in the construction industry, being detail oriented and must possess the ability to carry out tasks autonomously and collaboratively. This position requires hands-on involvement in the monthly close cycle, financial statement preparation, bank and general ledger account reconciliation. Incumbent will be responsible for the management of the Accounts Payable Supervisor/Manager and provides administrative and technical supervision to staff personnel.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the Controller with the timely and accurate preparation, analysis and presentation of all financial reports, statements and tax return filings on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis, including work-in-progress schedules.
Manage the Accounts Payable Supervisor/Manager to ensure effective results.
Provide direction and assistance to employees related to accounting, billing, payables and payroll inquiries.
Recommend policies and procedures relating to financial and business practices of the company as it pertains to general ledger and job cost posting.
Collaborate and provide support to the team during six month review and annual audit.
Annually review for completeness and accuracy the 1096/1099 prepared by the accounts payable supervisor/manager and electronically file.
Bank reconciliation for multiple companies.
Provide financial data to the corporate proposal team as needed.
Serves as a back up for Monthly/Quarterly sales tax filings and HUT tax returns.
Serve as a back up to the controller position as it relates to daily cash (monitor daily cash transactions, process wire transfers.)
Performs accounting responsibilities in accordance with GAAP.
Special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:
B.S. degree in Accounting or Finance required.
5+ years related experience within the construction industry.
Incumbent MUST have experience in preparing WIP (Work in Progress) schedules.
Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and experience with internal controls is preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) and ability to work with all levels of the organization
Strong aptitude for research and problem solving skills.
Ability to work under pressure and consistently achieve required deadlines.
Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to details and proactive approach.
Ability to work effectively, both independently and as a member of a team.
Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to "think outside the box" while identifying problems and developing creative solutions.
Reports to: Controller
Location: Farmingdale, NY
Compensation: $125,000 to $150,000 annually. Flexibility Based on experience.
