JOB PURPOSE: To oversee the accounting functions of multiple legal entities, ensure proper controls, and implement new processes and policies to support consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP guidelines.
Core Responsibilities
Technical Accounting & Research:
Lead the research, documentation, and implementation of new accounting standards and complex accounting topics, ensuring company-wide compliance.
Evaluate the accounting and financial reporting implications of significant transactions, including M&As, new service offerings, and enterprise-wide contracts.
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
Assist with the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial data. Reduce time to close for consolidated monthly financials.
Develop and implement SOX policies and procedures in compliance with relevant healthcare regulations, accounting standards, and internal controls.
Monitor revenue streams, including patient services, insurance reimbursements, government programs, and other revenue sources.
Review and analyze contracts, billing documents, and financial statements to ensure accurate revenue recognition.
Coordinate with billing and coding teams to ensure coding accuracy and appropriate revenue capture.
Internal Controls & Process Improvements:
Develop and maintain internal controls related to technical accounting areas.
Drive initiatives to improve the efficiency and accuracy of accounting processes.
Work closely with the compliance team to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, such as HIPAA, Medicare, and Medicaid guidelines.
Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to revenue accounting and revenue cycle management.
Develop and deliver training programs to educate staff on accounting policies and procedures.
Collaboration & Training:
Work closely with cross-functional teams including Finance, RCM, tax, internal audit, operations, and IT to ensure seamless financial operations.
Provide training and guidance to accounting and finance staff on technical accounting matters, ensuring the team remains updated with changing regulations and standards.
Foster a collaborative work environment, promoting cross-functional collaboration with billing, coding, finance, medical and other departments.
Audit Support:
Act as a primary liaison with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits for multiple legal entities.
Resolve audit findings with limited guidance and oversight.
Provide necessary knowledge, documentation, and support for an efficient audit process.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
CPA/CMA and/or master's degree strongly preferred
Experience:
7+ years if progressive accounting experience with at least 3 years in a technical accounting role
Extensive experience in PE-Backed healthcare or managed service industries
Knowledge of standard healthcare financial reporting and processes (RCM, FP&A, Accounting)
Proficiency in EMRs (mainly eCW, Athena, and/or Epic)
Prior exposure to SEC reporting
