Accounting Now's client located in Denver, CO is seeking to hire a talented Staff Accountant for an exciting, short-term 3 week contract opportunity.

The Staff Accountant is a full-time position that assists in making sure accounting functions associated with our contracts and AP/AR are processed timely and accurately. The Staff Accountant reports directly to the Assistant Controller and is responsible for finance/accounting functions as listed below:

Position Duties and Responsibilities
Perform certain day-to-day accounting functions as assigned, including the following, but not limited to:
  • Accounts receivable
  • General ledger
  • Fixed assets
  • Prepare bank account reconciliations between the general ledger and the cash management module.
  • Reconciles the prepaid assets monthly and records the appropriate journal entry.
  • Reconcile Program revenue monthly and work with the Program staff to address questions that arise.
  • Prepare the monthly fixed asset reports. Work with VP of Operations and Maintenance Director to ensure that capital assets are recorded properly.
  • Coordinate with various staff to ensure that fixed asset ledger is accurate and that retirements are properly recorded.
  • Assist Controller and Assistant Controller in support of the annual audit.
  • Write-up and input of journal entries into general ledger as required.
  • Reconciles the prepaid assets monthly and records the appropriate journal entry.
  • Identify enhancements to the status quo and advise others to facilitate implementation of recommended changes.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Minimum 2 years of accounting work experience. Will consider recent college graduate in lieu of experience.
  • CPA or CMA Certification candidate preferred.
  • Solid understanding in US GAAP.
  • Must be proficient in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and accounting software.
  • Prefer experience with Great Plains, Salesforce, Pivot Table, and Adaptive Insights.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, effective verbal and written communicator, team leadership and the ability to handle multiple tasks required.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The compensation for this position is in the range of $30-$31 per hour during the contract duration of the assignment. Please note your actual pay rate will be determined based upon your skills, knowledge and abilities including work experience - talk with your recruiter to learn more
