We are seeking a talented Cost Accountant to join our finance team and help drive our financial success.
Job Summary: The Cost Accountant will be responsible for managing and analyzing the company's cost structure, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting strategic decision-making. This role requires a strong understanding of cost accounting principles, experience in the food manufacturing industry, and familiarity with the unique challenges faced by publicly traded small food science corporations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Cost Analysis and Reporting: Analyze production costs, material costs, labor costs, and overhead expenses. Prepare detailed cost reports and variance analyses to support management in decision-making.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts. Monitor actual performance against budget and provide insights on variances.
• Inventory Management: Oversee inventory valuation and control processes. Ensure accurate recording of inventory transactions and conduct periodic physical inventory counts.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and SEC regulations. Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual reports for shareholders.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process optimization. Implement best practices in cost accounting and financial management.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, procurement, and sales, to gather relevant data and provide financial insights.
• Compliance: Ensure adherence to internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements. Support internal and external audits as needed.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in the food manufacturing industry.
• Experience working with publicly traded small food science corporations.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
