Position Summary:

Vallen's Financial Analyst is an individual contributor that may be a member of the FP&A or Accounting team working to support financial decision-making by collecting, analyzing, investigating, and reporting financial data and analysis. They demonstrate a proficient understanding of Vallen's business model and develop a partnership with their assigned stakeholders. They prepare financial reports for P&L analysis, cash and/or expense management.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepares various financial and/or accounting statements by collecting data; analyzing and investigating variances; summarizing data, information, and trends.
  • Tracks operational metrics and performs financial forecasting .
  • Analyzes past results, performs variance analysis , identifies trends, and makes recommendations for cost savings and profitability improvements.
  • Assist Sr Financial Analysis in the preparation of financial models from which decisions can be made.
  • Develops business partner relationships and demonstrates a working knowledge of the organizations and/or business units they support; aligns and builds partnerships across functional areas of financial performance and promotes corporate communication and direction.
  • Researches and prepares responses to financial inquiries and/or may assist with annual external audit requests.
  • May assist during the monthly close process to ensure accurate journal entries.
  • Sets the daily cash position for various bank deposit and disbursement accounts; prepares daily reports of cash transfers and monthly summary reports; records related transactions in the general ledger system.
  • Analyzes short-term and long-term borrowing needs and makes daily funding decisions to maximize the use of cash; prepares daily reports of borrowing and monthly summary reports; records related transactions in the general ledger system.
  • Reviews monthly bank analysis statements for accuracy.
  • Analyzes monthly General Insurance costs to determine forecasted claims and overall program expense.
  • May compile and prepare work-papers for income tax preparation.
  • Analyzes leases and makes lease vs. buy recommendations to management.
  • Conducts special financial and business-related studies and collaborates with other departments in preparation of analyses.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Job Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting coupled with 2+ years of financial analysis experience.

Other relevant experience includes:
  • CMA, CPA and/or MBA preferred.
  • FP&A, General Accounting, or Cash Management experience within distribution and/or manufacturing industry preferred.
  • Demonstration of excellent analytical, logical and forward-thinking competencies.
  • Demonstration of strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong planning, organizational and execution skills.
  • Operates with a quality mindset with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work in an agile environment and embrace change; can successfully multitask and conflicting priorities.
  • Excellent MS-Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Experience with SX.e strongly preferred.
