Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant will oversee and manage complex accounting tasks, ensure accurate financial reporting, and support the company's financial health. This role involves advanced accounting tasks, financial analysis, and providing leadership within the accounting department.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Manage and oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
Reconcile complex accounts and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes.
Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial planning activities.
Analyze financial performance and provide insights and recommendations to management.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including tax filings and audits.
Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff.
Collaborate with other departments to optimize financial processes and reporting.
Participate in the development and implementation of internal controls and accounting policies.
Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or supervisory role.
Experience in Agriculture or manufacturing industry is preferred.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Proficiency in accounting software QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, etc. and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Effective communication and leadership skills.
CPA certification is required; CMA or other relevant certifications are a plus.
