Our client is a single family office based in New York and Sydney, Australia is seeking a financial and tax director. This position will be based in Midtown, Manhattan. The family office oversees a globally diversified portfolio of companies and investments with a primary focus is on delivering exceptional financial, investment, philanthropic, and personal services to the family principals.
As the Finance and Tax Director, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Group CFO in developing and executing comprehensive financial strategies for the Family's US operations. This position requires a unique blend of expertise in financial management, tax planning, and compliance, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively to ensure alignment with the family office's broader objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
US Financial Strategy Development:
Assist the Group CFO in developing and implementing financial strategies for the Family's US operations.
Participate in strategic planning, providing insightful analyses and recommendations specific to the USA.
Serve as a financial consultant and advisor to third-generation family members, leveraging your expertise to influence strategic decisions and optimize financial performance.
US Tax Planning and Compliance:
Play a significant role in planning and executing sophisticated US tax strategies.
Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure accurate recording of tax positions.
Ensure the Family's compliance with all US tax laws and regulations, including filing and payment deadlines.
Financial Reporting and Analysis Support:
Assist in preparing and analyzing financial statements, reports, budgets, and forecasts for the Family's US operations.
Liquidity and Cash Flow Management:
Support the CFO in managing liquidity requirements for the Family's diverse US activities, including US non-profit/philanthropic endeavors.
Collaborative Teamwork:
Under the guidance of the Group CFO, work closely with a dynamic and driven team based primarily in Sydney, comprising both finance and non-finance professionals.
Demonstrate the ability to collaborate across the organization and seamlessly switch between high-level strategic work and day-to-day tasks.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (required).
Advanced certifications such as CPA, CMA, or an equivalent master's degree (highly valued).
Strong knowledge of US tax laws and regulations, with advanced degrees in tax-related subjects (highly valued).
Proven experience in financial management and tax compliance, preferably in family offices, professional service firms, or similar settings.
Exceptional financial acumen and strong communication skills.
Adept at both high-level strategic thinking and attention to detail.
Demonstrated capability in supporting senior leadership.
