Job Description:
As a Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in managing the accounting operations of the company. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial statements, overseeing the month-end close process, and providing guidance to junior accounting staff. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all financial data is accurately recorded and reported.
Perform complex reconciliations, including bank statements, balance sheets, and intercompany accounts.
Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
Lead the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
Coordinate and support internal and external audits, including the preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
Continuously evaluate and improve accounting processes and systems to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and internal controls.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA or CMA certification preferred.
Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or supervisory role.
Previous experience in agriculture, manufacture, or construction industry is preferred.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
Proficient in accounting software (SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, Famous, etc.) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy in work.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
Experience in managing a team or mentoring junior staff is a plus.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
