Founded in 2004, Brilliant Corners provides innovative housing and housing-related services to California's most vulnerable individuals, with an emphasis on those transitioning from, or at risk of, homelessness or institutionalization. We develop, own, and manage multi-family supportive housing and licensed residential care homes. We implement a broad array of scattered-site, one-on-one supportive housing, and clinical case management programs through partnerships with developmental services, homeless services, veterans' services, and healthcare sectors.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Budgeting is responsible for overseeing the budget planning and analysis activities of Brilliant Corners. The Director of Budgeting will work closely with leadership, budget managers, and program staff to develop and monitor program budgets, analyze financial data, provide financial recommendations, and ensure budget compliance across the organization. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in budgeting and financial analysis, as well as a deep understanding of nonprofit finance principles and practices.

Position Responsibilities

Develop and implement budgeting policies, procedures, and systems to support effective budget planning and monitoring

Collaborate with leadership, budget managers, and program staff to develop program budgets that align with organizational goals and objectives

Assist in the preparation of financial plans and forecasts

Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement

Prepare and present budget reports to senior leadership and the Board Finance Committee

Ensure compliance with budgetary requirements and regulations

Provide guidance to program staff on budget management and financial decision-making

Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in budgeting and financial reporting

Manage and develop a team of budget analysts

Requirements

Professional Experience

Minimum of ten years of experience in budgeting, financial planning, or related field

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field (Master's degree preferred)

Previous experience in a nonprofit or social service setting is a plus

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

CPA or CMA certification is a plus

Strong knowledge of nonprofit finance principles and practices

Demonstrated leadership and management skills

Experience with budgeting and accounting software and tools (Workday Adaptive Planning, Sage Intacct, etc.)

Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Experience in developing and managing program budgets

Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting

Physical Requirements

Candidates should have physical mobility for tasks such as standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, twisting, and walking on uneven surfaces. They should be capable of performing stationary tasks like sitting for up to 6 to 8 hours a day. Additionally, candidates should be able to lift, carry, push, pull light to moderate weights up to 15 pounds safely. Requires mental acuity for analytical reasoning and document interpretation.

Salary range for this position is $150,000 - $170,000 annually. This position is being offered at $150,000 - $170,000 annually.
