Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the general ledger, month end close, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. This role involves managing a team of Associate Finance Controllers, maintaining the integrity of financial data, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This role will collaborate closely with Controlling team in Denmark and Singapore , other finance teams, external auditors, and various departments within the organization to ensure a smooth and efficient financial close process.

Key responsibilities are -

  • Allocate and monitor workload, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data recorded in the general ledger.
  • Coordinate the intercompany reconciliation process and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies.
  • Financial Reporting in ERP.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., IFRS)
  • Support internal and external audits, including the preparation of audit schedules and responding to audit queries.
  • Reporting to Regulatory bodies (Danske Authorities, VAT reporting).
  • Maintain and update financial policies and procedures as needed.
  • Fixed asset and lease accounting.
  • Balance sheet and P&L explanations.


Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve general ledger processes and financial reporting.
  • Implement best practices and automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.


Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other finance teams, such as Controlling team, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Pool reporting team to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Act as a key point of contact for any GL-related inquiries from other teams and departments and teams.
  • Support special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as required.


Team management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the team.
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and support the professional growth of team members.

An ideal candidate should have a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field, along with a professional accounting certification i.e., CA or CMA and 7 years of experience in general ledger accounting or financial reporting

Added requirements are -

  • Proven experience in leading and managing a team
  • Good knowledge of accounting principles, standards (IFRS)
  • High analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a time-sensitive situation and meet tight deadlines
  • Good attention to details
  • Experience Shipping industry in a multinational organization is beneficial
  • Experience in Microsoft Dynamics D365 and OneStream is beneficial
