Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage the capital expenditure process, including reviewing, approving, and tracking capital expenditure requests in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Work closely with project managers, department heads, and finance teams to ensure accurate recording and reporting of capital expenditures.
- Perform analysis on proposed capital projects, including return on investment (ROI) calculations, cost-benefit analysis, and sensitivity analysis to support decision-making.
- Manage lease accounting activities in compliance with accounting standards (e.g., IFRS 16, ASC 842), including lease classification, recognition, measurement, and disclosures.
- Maintain lease databases and schedules, ensuring accuracy of lease terms, payments, and accounting entries.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather lease data, assess lease terms, and ensure proper accounting treatment for leases.
- Support the accounting and financial reporting for new investments, acquisitions, and business combinations.
- Assist in due diligence activities, including review of financial statements, purchase agreements, and valuation reports.
- Work with external advisors and internal stakeholders to ensure proper accounting treatment for new investments in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
- Prepare financial analysis and reporting related to Capex, leases, and new investments, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and forecasting.
- Provide insights and recommendations to management based on financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and resource allocation.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal controls related to Capex, leases, and new investments accounting.
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, and controls related to these areas.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and improve processes related to Capex, leases, and new investments accounting.
- Implement best practices, automation, and efficiencies to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability of accounting processes.
Individual Profile
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field. CPA or equivalent qualification preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with specific experience in Capex management, lease accounting, and/or new investments accounting.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and standards related to Capex, leases, and investments, including IFRS and/or US GAAP.
- Experience with accounting software and systems, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of lease accounting software (e.g., LeaseQuery) is a plus.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial data, perform complex calculations, and generate meaningful insights.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and data integrity in financial reporting and analysis.
Additional Preferred Skills:
- Experience in the real estate, infrastructure, or manufacturing industries, where Capex, leases, and new investments are significant components of the financial operations.
- Knowledge of tax implications related to Capex, leases, and investments.
- Familiarity with project management principles and practices.
- Certification such as Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
