We seek an experienced Financial Controller, willing to stay with the company for some time. We are a second-generation family-owned business in its 61st year of business. This position requires a strong accounting background to lead our finance function and accounting team, and will interact directly with vendors, customers, and outside professionals. We offer an excellent pay and benefits package based on experience and will provide for an orderly transition with our current Assistant Controller, who is retiring after 30 years.
Primary purpose of the job:
Manage all activities of the accounting department, assuring that proper internal controls are in place to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate and timely reporting of company financial results. Supervise accounting department personnel. Proactively lead the company's financial pursuits through analysis of profit centers and cost control, providing ideas and observations for consideration by the President.
Essential job duties and responsibilities:
Organize and lead daily accounting office functions.
Preparation, responsibility, and communication of accurate and timely financial information
Supervision and development of accounting department staff
Assure timely and accurate preparation of payroll and payroll tax filings.
Complete daily bank deposits and manage line of credit usage
Coordinate annual financial statement review and tax preparation with CPA firm; preparing all appropriate schedules and information on a timely basis.
Hire and terminate department employees as required.
Minimum education and experience requirements:
The qualifications and requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the job successfully:
Four-year Bachelor's degree in Accounting
Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience
Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience
Thorough knowledge of computer systems and business software, including accounting software and spreadsheets. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamic NAV is helpful.
