Attss has a client in Pascagoula, MS looking for an Assistant Controller:

An Assistant Controller prepares reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and its financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings, based on past, present, and expected operations.

Responsibilities include preparing balance sheet, profit & loss statement, and other reports to summarize current and projected company financial position. Analyzing financial information reports detailing assets, liabilities, and capital. Primarily responsible for the percentage of completion accounting and dealing with the program managers to understand the status of each program. Researching and preparing state incentive program applications and reporting. Recommends modifications to existing corporate programs, prepares reports required by regulatory agencies, participates in annual financial audit.

Supervises accountants performing established accounting procedures sufficient to prepare and validate accounting source documents and to examine, verify and maintain accounts and various accounting records. Participate and contribute in assembling the annual company budget, along with helping to update and document the rate and incurred cost models required by the various company contracts. Position will also be required to learn and understand the business management department responsibilities and work closely with this department in dealing with the customers.

The ideal candidate must have at least 2 years of accounting experience and a Bachelors degree in Accounting. The candidate must also be highly motivated, capable of multi-tasking/handling large volumes of work in addition to having good problem solving and communication skills. Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations including proficiency in using MS Office applications (MS Excel, MS Word, etc.) are required. CPA designation is a plus.
