The Financial Controller - Construction will be a key part of the Leadership team for a Mid-Sized, Well-Established General Contracting Construction Company based in the Greater Hartford CT Area. The role will oversee the Accounting team and be a key Finance Business Partner to Divisional Heads in Operations. Description

We are working with a mid-sized General Contracting Construction company in the Greater Hartford CT area. The Financial Controller will play a critical role in overseeing the financial health of the organization and reporting the CEO/CFO with Financial Strategic Planning.

Construction Project Accounting and Reporting:

• Oversee and manage all aspects of construction project accounting.
• Prepare and analyze project financial reports.
• Ensure accurate and timely recording of project costs, revenues, and profitability.
• Monitor project budgets and forecasts.

Procore Invoicing, Project Collections, and Communications:

• Manage invoicing through Procore software.
• Ensure timely and accurate billing to clients.
• Oversee project collections and resolve any billing issues.
• Maintain effective communication with project managers and clients regarding financial matters.

Sales Tax Reporting and Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with all sales tax regulations.
• Prepare and file sales tax returns.
• Keep abreast of changes in sales tax laws and implement necessary adjustments.

Effective Communication with Project Team Members:

• Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and other team members to ensure financial transparency.
• Provide financial insights and support for project decision-making.

Responsible for the Accounting Team including A/P and A/R Functions:

• Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
• Act as a backup for A/P and A/R functions when necessary.

Monthly Accounting Functio

• Perform month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and reports.
• Assist with annual audits and tax preparations.
• Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts.

Profile

• CPA (preferred, not essential)
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Related Field
• 10 + years of Construction Accounting tenure
• Finance team leadership experience
• Systems: Procore, Sage Intacct etc
