Job Title: Staff Accountant (Remote, India)

Working Hours: 4:30 PM - 1:30 AM IST

Job Summary: Mohr Management India Private Ltd is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our remote team in India. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of US GAAP accounting principles and be capable of handling various accounting tasks such as journal entries, financial statement preparation, budgeting, and audit processes. Being a Chartered Accountant is advantageous but not mandatory.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
  • General Ledger Management:
    • Prepare and post journal entries accurately and timely.
    • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
    • Ensure all financial transactions are recorded in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Support the consolidation process and prepare supporting schedules.
    • Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Assist in the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
    • Analyze variances between actual results and budgets/forecasts.
    • Provide insightful analysis and explanations for variances.
  • Audit and Compliance:
    • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
    • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and other statutory requirements.
    • Maintain accurate and organized audit trails.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable:
    • Process invoices, expense reports, and payment requests.
    • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
    • Assist in managing accounts receivable and collections as needed.
  • Month-End and Year-End Close:
    • Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
    • Prepare and review account reconciliations and journal entries.
    • Ensure timely and accurate closing of books.

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in accounting or a related role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with accounting software, preferably QuickBooks or similar.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP principles.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote work environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Chartered Accountant qualification is a plus.

Certificates and/or Licenses:
  • Chartered Accountant (preferred but not required)

Physical Requirements:
  • Involves work of a general office nature.
  • Typically includes extended periods of sitting and/or operation of a computer for up to 8 hours a day and may involve periods of standing, such as operating at a copier/fax/scanner.
  • Regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to write and type.
  • Ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.
  • Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented orally and in writing.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in writing and orally so others will understand.
  • Regularly required to utilize vision abilities, allowing reading of printed material, graphics, and computer displays.
