About the Grant
FOGSI, in collaboration with partners, will engage private-sector health providers in 29 districts across Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Odisha to enhance maternal healthcare quality. The focus is on improving care during the intrapartum period through evidence-based CPD modules for healthcare workers. This initiative aims to strengthen processes and introduce innovative strategies in private sector facilities.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join FOGSI’s Program Enablement Unit (PEU) as an Accountant. The PEU provides critical support for program management, technical (CPD content) development, program delivery, financial oversight and coordination efforts. As an accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring the effective financial management of a large grant project.

B. Responsibilities and Qualifications
Job Responsibilities:
- Financial Management and Reporting
- Maintain accurate and complete financial records for the FOGSI program grant in accordance with FOGSI’s accounting policies and procedures, as well as Donor requirements
- Maintain and update financial records, including ledgers, invoices, receipts, and payments.
- Assist the Project Lead, Program Director and Joint Project Director with financial management tasks for the program grant, including budget tracking, forecasting, and cost control
- Prepare financial reports (e.g., budgets, variance reports, grant reports) to support project monitoring and decision-making by the PEU
- Prepare grant-specific financial reports for submission to the Donor
- Transactions and Invoicing
- Process financial transactions (accounts payable/receivable, payroll, etc.) related to the grant in compliance with grant regulations
- Meet all contractual deadlines for invoice processing
- Implement a 3/2 way matching process to ensure accurate invoice payments for open purchase orders/contracts
- Maintain sufficient controls for processing multi-currency invoices, including exchange rate accuracy and fluctuation considerations
- Manage and execute weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc payment runs with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Auditing
- Liaise with external auditors during audits of the program grant
- Conduct thorough and accurate audits of employee T&E claims, ensuring compliance with FOGSI policies
- Other accounting-related duties as assigned
The Ideal Candidate would possess the following:
Required Qualifications and Qualities:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in an accounting role
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices (GAAP or IFRS preferred).
- Proficiency in accounting softwares (ERP, Tally etc)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel and use of pivot tables
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills (in English) with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work in an agile and adaptive, entrepreneurial environment
- Humility, willingness to listen, learn and adapt
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with grant funding
- An individual holding CA inter certification is preferred
- Can speak in Hindi and Marathi
