About the role:

We are looking for a results-oriented team member to strengthen our L&H Market FP&A team.

The core responsibilities of the role in the L&H BU Finance team include:
  • Coordinate quarterly L&H forecast with support from region controllers. Based on submissions, review, and steer management from analysis of significant variances between actuals, forecast and Plan
  • Analyze market, client, underwriting portfolios' performance and explain performance drivers by providing financial insights
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of the performance measures, planning process & timelines and the technical aspects of risk selection of a (re)insurance company
  • Support in creating standardized visualization of the key data stories and business messages to steer management decisions
  • Provide/ensure the accuracy of data/graphs needed to support Reporting and Controlling presentation requirement for board meeting, external events and internal meetings
  • Communication of results and Internal KPIs to various stakeholders including client market heads, in a way that is easily understood by people not dealing with IFRS 17 on an every-day basis with data/reports
  • Work in close collaboration with colleagues in Finance, Valuation, Regional Client Markets and Financial Modelling team on topics related to IFRS
  • Support L&H BU Planning process and analysis by portfolio & market
  • Embrace/Adopt to the changes in process/deliverables to deliver IFRS results
  • Focus on operational excellence, by critically assessing the recurring reporting processes and outputs and propose areas for improvement.


About the team:

Within Reinsurance Finance, our team is responsible for Financial Analysis, Planning, Data Insights & Analytics for the L&H Reinsurance worldwide with a focus on IFRS valuation. Reinsurance FP&A drives sustainable performance as Performance Architect and Commercial Advisor of the BU by crafting transparency on the financial performance, driving performance strategy, supporting performance initiatives, and providing commercial advice. We aim to provide senior management with key insights into business performance, guiding them to make accurate and impactful decisions. We also act as a CFO function for the Chief Underwriting Office and Head of Valuation & Analysis. We work closely with pricing and actuarial teams across the globe to ensure quality of the financial information and to derive the insights/granularity needed from our data analysis.

The financial analyst is a key role within an agile and driven team, providing the opportunity to delve into financial performance, data and managing key stakeholder requests

About you:

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant/CFA, MBA (Finance), Actuarial/Good progress on Actuarial examinations would be preferable
  • Successfully completed university degree, preferably in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Natural Science, Finance or equivalent
  • Overall, 3+ years of working experience in L&H (re-)insurance analytics, controlling or similar function
  • Basic understanding of financial reporting process or familiarity of the IFRS, GAAP, and EVM accounting frameworks is preferable.
  • Strong curiosity about/motivation to learn about insurance/reinsurance
  • Insurance products risk selection and risk reward framework understanding is preferable, Actuarial education is a plus
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access, Power BI) and any exposure working on Palantir platform is a plus
  • Finance: source of earnings, income statement and balance sheet understanding / experience are preferable
