Our organization is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented individual to serve as an Assistant Controller in our Finance department. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned financial professional who is looking to take on a leadership role in a fast-paced, innovative environment. The Assistant Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, including cost accounting, general ledger management, and internal controls. The candidate will also be responsible for forecasting, cost to completion accounting, SOX compliance, and variance analysis. This role requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all general ledger activities, ensuring accurate and timely processing of transactions.
  • Conduct cost accounting and cost to completion accounting to ensure accurate financial reporting and to support strategic decision-making.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with SOX and other regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements and reports, including variance analysis reports.
  • Develop and implement financial forecasting models to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely budgeting and financial reporting.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings, and lead initiatives to implement these improvements.
  • Provide leadership and support to finance department staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field is required; advanced degree or professional certification (such as CPA or CMA) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a finance or accounting role, with a focus on cost accounting, general ledger management, and internal controls.
  • Strong knowledge of SOX compliance and other regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with financial forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a proven ability to motivate and mentor staff.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills; experience with financial software and systems is a plus.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
