Qualifications for the Role:
- Our client is a small government contractor in Montgomery County. Due to an upcoming retirement of a long term employee, they are looking for a self starting Controller skilled in government contract accounting to start immediately and learn from the current Controller
- This position will begin on a contractual basis. For the right candidate, the role can become permanent
- This person will be the only full time employee in accounting and will manage all the day to day along with one part time employee
- Schedule: MWF work from home, TTh in office in Bethesda, MD
- Candidates must be able to commit to a full time schedule and be local

Overview of the Controller role:
- Directs and coordinates company financial planning and budget management functions.
- Recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of divisions and departments.
- Monitors and analyzes monthly operating results against budget.
- Oversees daily operations of the finance department.
- Prepare financial analysis for contract negotiations and product investment decisions.
- Works with department managers to develop business plans for the company, goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
- Directs financial audits and provides recommendations for procedural improvements.
- Provides financial statement reporting and analysis, cash flow analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Directs month end closings, financial reporting and coordination of audits.
Qualifications for the Role:
- Bachelors or higher in Accounting, Finance, or similar required
- 8+ years' experience of gov con accounting required
- Advanced Excel skills required
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Great attention to detail and extremely accurate, is patient and flexible, and open to learning new things
