PURPOSE:
The Group Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the accounting unit in alignment with the finance department's vision, controlling, and reviewing all the accounting transactions in compliance with the Group's Accounting Policies, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and local applicable tax laws and regulations. The Group Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring the integrity of accounting information by researching account issues for compliance and establishing quality control over financial transactions.

The Group Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring the integrity of accounting information by researching account issues for compliance and establishing quality control over financial transactions.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Supervision and control:
- Handle and take responsibility for the day-to-day finance and accounting operations to ensure compliance and abidance by the group accounting policies (local and foreign entities).
- Supervise and control supporting documents for appropriate documentation and approval cycle before posting.
- Review and post non-recurring and unusual accounting transactions to ensure proper recording, allocation, and presentation.
- Review and post adjusting and reporting journal entries to ensure proper recording, allocation, and presentation.
- Control and ensure the proper maintenance of the master files (such as suppliers, accruals, prepayments, insurance, rent, etc...) to ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of information and non-duplication of data.
- Control and ensure the proper maintenance of the goods in transit file to ensure the completeness, proper allocation, and fair presentation of information at each reporting period.
- Control and ensure the proper maintenance of the property and equipment module to ensure the proper allocation, valuation, completeness, and existence.
- Control and ensure the proper maintenance of the periodical accounts payable reconciliation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and obligations.
- Control and ensure the proper maintenance of aging reports to proceed with the payments to suppliers after performing the reconciliation of accounts.
- Review and approve the due balance list of suppliers to proceed with payments.
- Control the spending on property and equipment and new projects, compared to the budget to ensure compliance with the pre-set budget.
- Control the demolition of damaged and expired goods to ensure compliance with the Group's policy as well as ministries of finance and trade and economy requirements.
- Assist in drafting/reviewing the Group's policies and procedures to improve the Group's performance, effectiveness, and efficiency.
Periodical and year-end closing process:
- Perform and review the full set of accounts, on a periodical basis, to ensure timely periodical closing as per the set deadlines.
- Handle the closing process and take charge of applying the closing checklist, to ensure the issuance of a fair set of accounts.
- Review and resolve accounting discrepancies to ensure proper and accurate accounting information.
- Review and approve the monthly intercompany accounts' reconciliation to ensure completeness and existence.
- Coordinate with the auditors (external and internal) to facilitate their mission.
Team Management:
- Manage, coach, and motivate the team to lead them toward high performance.
- Manage the performance appraisal process to ensure the KPIs are being met and provide the PX Department with accurate feedback.
- Delegate tasks effectively to others and ensure that they have the needed skills to succeed in having an effective and efficient flow of activities. Follow up on the delivery of the delegated tasks.
- Work on developing and growing the team's expertise as part of career development and succession planning.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance.
- MBA or equivalent degree from a renowned university or business school.
- Professional certificates such as CPA or CMA.
- IFRS diploma or certificate is a must.
- 7+ years of strong managerial experience in accounting and finance.
- Strong knowledge of general accounting and tax laws, concepts, and practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, and Arabic. French is a plus.
- Full proficiency in computer skills and mainly in Excel & other MS Office applications.
- Very good understanding of databases and ERPs.
- High ethical values.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good organizational skills and ability to plan and prioritize work.
