We also provide capital management, business planning, forecasting, and tax and accounting advisory services.

Job Purpose

This role presents an opportunity to join the Group Tax team and develop a broad banking /capital markets tax career across various tax domains. The role supports the bank in navigating the increasingly complex global tax regulations amidst new product innovations and evolving business operations. We seek a highly driven individual who can grasp business concepts/activities and provide informed tax advice coupled with the ability to work with data to derive analytical insights for decision making.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support new business initiatives and assess tax implications on new initiatives/product offerings.
  • Contribute to the formulation and refinement of the bank's tax strategy, alignment to evolving business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Assess and mitigate tax risks associated with business activities and transactions, implementing controls and processes to safeguard against potential tax exposures.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant tax laws and regulations as well as Group Tax Policies and Standards by proactively monitoring changes in tax legislation and implementing necessary adjustments to tax compliance procedures.
  • Ability to engage internal and external stakeholders effectively on complex tax matters.

Responsibilities

  • Support business and support units on tax advisory and compliance matters, including analysis of tax costs, tax implications for new business initiatives/priorities, product offerings and/or M&A activities.
  • Work with relevant teams to ensure data, especially for new products, is captured correctly at source and routed properly to the relevant reporting systems for tax filing and analysis.
  • Drive tax performance management measurements through working effectively with internal stakeholders supported by data and analytics.
  • Support engagement with tax authorities, when required, to steer tax outcome that is aligned with the underlying economics especially for new/innovative products.
  • Deliver on ad-hoc tax-related response within time requirements.

Requirements

  • Recognized Bachelor's degree, CPA.
  • Professional Qualification such as SCTP, ISCA, ACA/ACCA, etc. (preferred but not mandatory)
  • Strong grounding in derivatives fundamental and good knowledge of derivatives products is an advantage.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in tax and finance/ treasury work in the financial services industry. Big 4 tax, advisory or analytics experience may also be considered.
  • Strong research, analytical and lateral-thinking skills to evaluate tax impact for business, review of legal documentation and other related implications.
  • Strong and confident communicator with effective style adaptation both verbally and written to support and manage the communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly motivated, fast, versatile learner with a keen interest to develop his/her understanding of taxation, banking operations, finance and other processes in the bank.
  • Adept at large handling financial data. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Familiarity in analytics software such as Tableau, is an advantage.
  • Positive problem-solving attitude and willing to take on new challenges with an open-mind.
