CONTROLLER
Role Overview:
The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the construction accounting and financial analysis for the company. This role requires a strong understanding of construction accounting principles, job costing reporting, work in progress, and scheduling knowledge. This person will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and providing financial insights to the management team.
Responsibilities:
Oversee basic accounting procedures: Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, time billing, payroll, general ledger, tax payments, and inventory control.
Manage Office Staff Personnel: Supervise and provide guidance to office staff members.
Process payroll: Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll for the company.
Prepare financial statements: Develop monthly and quarterly financial reports, as well as weekly forecasts summarizing the current and projected financial position to the management team.
Month-end and quarterly closing: Prepare balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for month-end and quarterly reporting.
Analyze and reconcile accounts: Perform analysis and reconciliation of general ledger accounts and investment transactions, assisting with quarterly reports for management.
Assist with audits: Support the Account Manager in annual financial and 401K audits by acting as the company liaison with auditors.
Customer communication: Address any past-due invoices with customers and ensure timely resolution.
Provide financial data: Produce financial data and reports as requested by the management team and assist with special accounting projects periodically.
Monthly operations analysis: Conduct monthly analysis of operations, identifying areas for improvement or cost-saving opportunities.
Project management: Ensure all active projects are accounted for accurately and effectively.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree: Hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
Accounting experience: Possess two or more years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a construction or similar work environment.
Strong organizational and communication skills: Exhibit strong organizational skills, along with excellent oral and written communication abilities.
Independent and deadline-oriented: Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
Proficient in accounting software: Demonstrate expertise with Microsoft Excel and Word, as well as experience with accounting software and general ledgers.
Attention to detail: Possess strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
