Job Description: We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to manage their financial operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in accounting, particularly within the construction industry. This role involves overseeing daily accounting tasks, ensuring financial accuracy, and providing insightful financial analysis. The Accounting Manager will report directly to the owner and will supervise one junior accountant.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
  • Prepare and review financial statements and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency and ensure compliance.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and provide recommendations to senior management.
  • Supervise and mentor the junior accountant, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional development and performance.
  • Coordinate with project managers and other departments to ensure accurate project costing and financial reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, monitoring financial performance and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and filings, liaising with external auditors as necessary.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and accounting best practices to continually enhance our financial operations.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage 300) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage and mentor staff.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and problem-solving approach.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
