Who you are
As the Assistant Controller in New York (Avenue of the Americas - 6th Avenue), you are responsible for the direction and supervision of the regional accounting office to provide quality and timely accounting services to our customers. Through planning, supervising, training, and supporting the accounting team, the Assistant Regional Controller improves Colliers profitability and achieves its mission.
You bring a positive attitude in everything you do, as demonstrated in strong relationships with your clients and colleagues. You also look for opportunities for continuous improvement by monitoring and reviewing accounting processes and procedures and recommending improvements to increase efficiency and improve internal controls. Youre flexible and can jump in to help others whenever necessary. You enjoy collaborating with other subject matter experts and regional leaders to develop innovative solutions to support our business objectives and growth plans.
What you bring:
3 - 5 years of progressive accounting experience in the commercial real estate industry; mid- large operations of commercial office buildings.
Bachelors degree
Proficiency in MRI
Experience in Lease Administration, reading and understading complex office and retail lease documents
Bonus skills and experience
Advanced education in accounting; CPA designation is an asset
Experience with audits, strong understanding of accounting standards
Real Estate industry accounting experience, including office, medical office, and retail properties
What success looks like:
An understanding of institutional investment reporting criteria
You successfully ensure the accuracy and productivity of all property management accounting and financial activities.
Increases operational efficiency for staffing levels and workloads to maximize efficiencies and profitability for the company.
Ensures that financial reporting is accurate and that reports are issued on time.
Effectively coordinates activities with internal or external auditors and others.
