Structured hybrid role:

At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home. We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, 'anchor', days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). Introduction:

This role will hold responsibility for execution of specific initiatives as part of the broader Transformation program focussing mainly on the "Sub-Ledger Strategy" initiative. You will be aligned to a specific Finance Transaction Cycle where you will be "hands on" in transformation activities including, planning, execution, process assessment and mapping, communications, analysis, and future state operating model/process design and execution.

What will you be doing?
  • Co-ordinate and plan analysis and testing tasks for one or more components of the Strategy streams and support VP leads in design, engagement and delivery.
  • Taking ownership for the identification and development of the key data creation and maintenance activities / Data Validation as required by team/ PC by engaging with multiple upstream and downstream internal stakeholders.
  • Engage with technology and business functions on strategic projects impacting systems
  • Identify issues and risks of implementing the strategy as they become apparent and present options and proposed solutions for discussion with senior stakeholders across Finance, IT and PMO.
  • Challenge IT to ensure designs are addressing the user requirements and the root cause and identifying and suggesting improvements to scope or design to add value to end user solutions.
  • Gaps and issues are escalated to appropriate governance forums for review and remediating actions executed.
  • Ensure any data quality / gaps are overcome by means of effective dialogue with internal and external team members.
  • Engage with technology and business operations functions as required to identify root causes.
  • Produce monthly MI and contribute to the improvement of the end-to-end controls
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the monitoring of processes to further aid future improvements;
  • Perform data analysis to identify process footprints and study key performance indicators to identify improvement opportunities in the process.
  • Identify key improvement opportunities in the finance process and quantify associated business benefits.
  • Provide suggestions and contribute towards cost efficiency and contribute towards productivity improvement which will result in a cost benefit
  • Analyse from differing perspectives or viewpoints to fully understand complexity and Sets focus on improved delivery to customers or colleagues

What we're looking for:
  • Understanding and experience of Product Control / Financial Control or Finance related processes
  • Excellent understanding of front to back system architecture and E2E processes and controls within Product Control / Barclays.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and balance priorities to meet tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience running operations functions and should have worked on transformation programs within Risk, Finance or Treasury
  • Excellent team player with the ability to also work independently when required.
  • Understanding and exposure to project management disciplines and techniques / Full project lifecycle processes
  • Proven ability to adapt to an evolving operating model and to actively participate in its development
  • Proven ability to steer solutions, building processes based on strong understanding of the infrastructure in place
  • Skilled in the use of data analysis and presentation software tools; able to extract and understand the underlying picture from a wealth of complex data
  • Ability to work in a virtual team and work without supervision for long periods of time
  • Pragmatic rather than idealistic outlook
  • Academic and professional qualifications that may include CA / CFA / Masters in Finance / Financial Engineering would be an advantage

Skills that will help you in the role:
  • Good Experience ranging with operations strategy/ line management roles in financial institutions, consulting or technology companies or programme/ change management roles in other industries
  • Proven ability to network and build rapport and credibility quickly with a variety of key stakeholders (FO, Ops Senior Management, IT).
  • Strong analytical skills required to perform complex analysis on the volumes and process flow to identify the root cause.
  • Able to pay attention to detail and demonstrate awareness of internal controls
  • Strong/Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to clearly articulate complicated issues to management and other impacted areas and ensure timely resolution of breaks and issues.
  • Ability to cope with change and very tight deadlines
