KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Managing a team of accountants and ensuring adherence to daily BAU activities
  • Ensuring timely delivery of financial statements according to client agreements
  • Regular interactions/discussions with clients on the financial performance of their properties
  • Responding to accounting questions related to the client's business within strict TATs
  • Taking responsibility for the accuracy of financial statements prepared by his/her team
  • Supervision of the accounting team in reviewing rent rolls, reconciling bank statements and monitoring monthly operating results against agreed budgets
  • Coordination with operational team members to prepare and approve financial budgets for each property assigned to them
  • Coordination with the Controller, CFO, and other Assistant Controllers to establish and implement short/long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures
  • Review of CAM reconciliation, management fee calculation, accruals, current liabilities, and aging (AR, AP & BRS)
  • Facilitate hiring as well as annual performance reviews for a team of assistant controllers and accountants
  • Managing team efficiency and providing staffing recommendations to meet expected performance metrics
  • Providing support in financial audit requests and providing recommendations for procedural improvements
  • Review of all Balance Sheet accounts for any changes and understanding the data in these accounts
  • Reports generation for further review and reporting, such as variance analysis, balance sheet, P&L, account reconciliation and aging.
  • Timely creation of accurate financial statements as per business requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Deep understanding of financial concepts as applicable in the US commercial landscape
  • Proven organizational skills, especially attention to detail and ability to multi-task effectively
  • Excellent critical reasoning, analytical, problem solving and quantitative skills
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with ERPs such as Yardi, Entrata & Real Page
  • Proficient with MS office, PowerPoint & Visio
  • JIRA, Macro and Power BI will be added advantage

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Accounting
  • M.Com, MBA (Finance & Accounting), or CPA preferred

EXPERIENCE
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in a similar environment
  • Familiarity with multi-family, student housing and affordable housing property management and accounting is preferred
