The Opportunity

Poppulo seeks a Senior Accountant to join our accounting team. This role is responsible to maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures, working closely with global controlling team, and participating in various month-end activities to close the books accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents
  • Working closely with global controlling team to align and adhere to accounting policies.
  • Support global and local statutory or tax audits.
  • Perform month-end duties, including open purchase requisition and purchase order review, prepare and post month-end expense accruals, prepare accounting schedules and reconcile accounts including bank as required.
  • Participate and work closely on various month end activities including fixed assets amortization, cost accruals etc.
  • Provide problem identification and resolution as needed.
  • General ledger schedules and reconciliation
  • Other duties as requested.

Candidate Expertise Required
  • Position requires a minimum of 5 years related experience.
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in finance required. Having a CA/CMA qualification is Plus.
  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Experience with creating financial statements.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
  • Intermediate understanding of accounting and reporting standards, gaining experience in researching as it relates to accounting issues
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate Excel skills.
  • Flexibility to work in an interactive environment with a tolerance for ambiguity and change.

Skills & Experience Required:
  • Position requires a minimum of 5 years related experience.

  • Proficient computer skills: Highly skilled in Microsoft products as well as ERP systems. Experience with NetSuite and salesforce a plus
