Job Details

As the Controller, you will be responsible for:

  • Financial Strategy: Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to execute financial strategies aligned with overall business objectives, fostering growth, profitability, and financial goals.
  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Lead the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) function, directing budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis to inform strategic decision-making and resource allocation.
  • Financial Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, regulatory filings, and management reports in adherence to accounting standards and regulatory mandates.
  • Risk Management: Effectively manage financial risks, encompassing market, credit, and operational risks, while implementing robust risk management practices and controls.
  • Capital Management: Optimize capital allocation and structure to support business expansion and enhance returns for shareholders, overseeing capital planning, raising initiatives, and dividend policies.
  • Investment Management: Collaborate with the CEO and Board Treasurer to oversee investment activities, including asset allocation, portfolio management, and investment performance monitoring, ensuring alignment with investment objectives and risk tolerances.
  • Financial Operations: Supervise financial operations, encompassing banking relationships, cash management, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, ensuring operational efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to internal controls.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including statutory reporting, tax compliance, and regulatory filings, while liaising with regulators and auditors as necessary.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Cultivate and maintain strategic alliances with external stakeholders, such as reinsurers, actuaries, financial institutions, investment advisors, and regulatory bodies, to bolster business objectives and enhance market positioning.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Provide robust leadership and mentorship to the accounting team and across departments, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continual learning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance; CPA designation required.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in finance and accounting, with significant exposure to the insurance industry.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting & finance experience.
  • Deep comprehension of regulatory requirements and financial reporting standards.
  • Profound understanding of insurance accounting principles, including statutory and GAAP accounting.
  • Demonstrated track record of driving financial performance and implementing strategic initiatives to achieve business objectives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving prowess, with the ability to decipher complex financial data and offer strategic insights.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, adept at engaging with senior executives, board members, regulators, and external stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership acumen, with a history of building and nurturing high-performing teams.
  • Strategic mindset focused on innovation, continuous improvement, and driving organizational change.
