Job Details

HFI Management (HFIM) is currently seeking a Controller based in Idaho Falls, Idaho. HFIM is the administrative and sales support division of the Brad Hall family of companies. HFIM supports companies in fuel and lube distribution, propane sales, retail fuel stations, oil field services farming, fuel transportation and other industries. The family of Companies does business in the Western United States and supplies to over 30 states.

The Controller Will Primarily Be Focused On

Prepare, review, and present financial statements (monthly, quarterly, annually).
Ensure month-end is closed accurately by Company established deadlines and standards.
Compare current financial statements to applicable previous period and identify/explain anomalies and trends.
Ensure monthly reporting processes are complete and accurate.
Prepare books for tax returns and other tax related processes and assist in completion of tax returns.
Assist with external CPA firm and ensure proper record keeping and information exchange.
Direct daily activities of A/P, A/R (depending on entity), analysis, and cost accounting activities.
Review and recommend accounting processes improvements periodically including month end process, audit controls, and maintain chart of accounts.
Ensure that sales tax, fuel tax, and property tax payments are completed timely.
Assist with internal and external financial audit processes and ensure that financial controls and policies are followed.
Assist with forecasting and planning processes as needed.
Employ best practices, policies, and processes to monitor and ensure appropriate control environment.
Complete daily cash reporting and monthly cash forecasting, planning, and budgeting.
Complete bank reconciliation for select companies.

The preferred candidate for the Controller will have the following:

5 or more years' experience Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong computer skills and able to learn company systems and processes.
Adheres to the company's values and ethical expectations.
Able to assist and relate to multiple leadership types in multiple industries simultaneously.
Strong understanding of reporting and financial systems.
Strong understanding of excel and other office suite.
