Controller - Construction

Highland Consulting Group is an executive search firm that specializes in placing top talent in the construction industry.

We are working with a multi discipline Contractor in the Bethesda, MD area that is recruiting for an experienced Construction Controller . This contractor is highly respected in the area, they only do high quality work, and operates in an extremely professional manner. The company is financially extremely stable, is very profitable, and continues to have controlled growth.

This position reports to the CFO of the company and in directly with the President. The Controller manages the accounting team and supports the company of about 450 employees. Successful candidates must have a minimum of 10 years experience as an Accountant and/or Controller working for a construction contractor. Candidates must be fully experienced in WIP Report, Job Costing, Accounts Payable - AP, Accounts Receivable - AR, Payroll, Account Reconciliation.

Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Oversee functions in Accounts Payable - AP, Accounts Receivable - AR, Payroll, and Account Reconciliation
  • Identify and communicate areas of financial risk
  • Ensure owner billings are prepared timely and in accordance with contractual terms
  • Ensure jobs are processed in accordance with company internal control procedures
  • Support the tax compliance function of the company
  • Oversee Preparation and analysis of purchase orders and payables
  • Manage the WIP Reporting process
  • Create cash flow projections
  • Work to minimize tax liabilities
