Key Responsibilities of the Controller:
- Oversight of all accounting functions, encompassing the management of the general ledger, account reconciliations, and transaction processing (including AR, AP, Payroll & GL).
- Facilitating the accurate and punctual monthly preparation of financial statements and diverse reports.
- Ensuring the establishment and maintenance of robust financial controls within the organization, while implementing additional controls as deemed necessary.
- Active management of cash flow to optimize financial resources.
- Reconciliation of bank statements to maintain financial accuracy and integrity.
- Collaborating closely with staff accountants to guarantee the accurate entry of accounting data.
- Assisting in the preparation and coordination of annual financial audits to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Qualifications of the controller:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Controller or Accounting Manager.
- Experience in nonprofit, construction, retail, or mortgage accounting is advantageous.
- Strong management skills with the ability to coach and develop others.
- Proficiency in Sage50 or similar software with inventory and job costing knowledge preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
- High level of integrity, trustworthiness, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
