Key Responsibilities of the Controller:
  • Oversight of all accounting functions, encompassing the management of the general ledger, account reconciliations, and transaction processing (including AR, AP, Payroll & GL).
  • Facilitating the accurate and punctual monthly preparation of financial statements and diverse reports.
  • Ensuring the establishment and maintenance of robust financial controls within the organization, while implementing additional controls as deemed necessary.
  • Active management of cash flow to optimize financial resources.
  • Reconciliation of bank statements to maintain financial accuracy and integrity.
  • Collaborating closely with staff accountants to guarantee the accurate entry of accounting data.
  • Assisting in the preparation and coordination of annual financial audits to ensure compliance and accuracy.


Qualifications of the controller:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Controller or Accounting Manager.
  • Experience in nonprofit, construction, retail, or mortgage accounting is advantageous.
  • Strong management skills with the ability to coach and develop others.
  • Proficiency in Sage50 or similar software with inventory and job costing knowledge preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • High level of integrity, trustworthiness, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
