Regular travel will be required to Alaska and occasional travel to other locations including Virginia may be required.

Overview of the Corporate Controller role:
  • Financial Reporting: Ensure accuracy and completeness of all financial transactions. Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements according to GAAP. Present reports to senior management, offering insights on financial performance.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with department heads to develop annual budgets and forecasts. Monitor variances and recommend cost-saving measures. Establish Commercial KPIs and conduct regular budget meetings.
  • Cash Management: Monitor cash flow, oversee disbursements and receipts, ensuring liquidity for operational needs. Coordinate with Commercial leadership to optimize cash generation and offset costs.
  • Journal Entries: Review and approve journal entries, ensuring accuracy in inventory, expenses, accruals, and adjustments.
  • Revenue Postings: Verify accuracy of revenue postings, reconcile with POS reports, and identify discrepancies.
  • Bank Reconciliations: Oversee bank reconciliation process, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • Inventory Management: Coordinate with departments to manage inventory levels and minimize waste. Reconcile physical counts with records and review COGS entries.
  • Month-end Close and Consolidations: Coordinate with Controllers on all closing activities, financial reporting, audits, and taxes.
  • Cost Control: Monitor expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement reductions.
  • Internal Controls: Establish procedures to safeguard assets and ensure compliance.
  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Assist in long-term planning, capital expenditure analysis, and risk assessment.
  • Risk Management: Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Audit Coordination: Lead audit-related requests for commercial and nonprofit businesses.
  • Management Reporting: Prepare reports and analyses for stakeholders.
  • Training and Development: Provide guidance to finance staff, promoting continuous improvement.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute financial insights to strategic initiatives and business opportunities.

Qualifications for Corporate Controller role:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required, CPA certification ideal.
  • Minimum seven years' experience in accounting or related field.
  • Preferably experienced in commercial and hospitality industry accounting.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and ability to work accurately under pressure.
  • Flexible, organized, and able to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet internal and external customer expectations.
  • Collaborative team player with strong organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and professionalism essential.
