Construction and Development Controller Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement financial strategies to support the company's growth objectives, collaborating closely with executive leadership and department heads.
- Oversee all aspects of financial reporting, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, providing actionable insights to optimize performance and mitigate risks.
- Manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards, leveraging advanced financial modeling techniques to drive informed decision-making.
- Establish and maintain robust internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets and mitigate fraud, continuously evaluating and improving processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies to facilitate audits, filings, and compliance activities, ensuring full adherence to legal and contractual obligations.
- Provide strategic guidance on capital allocation, investment analysis, and financing options, evaluating opportunities for growth and expansion while optimizing capital structure and liquidity management.
- Mentor and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional development to drive individual and collective success.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, market dynamics, and regulatory changes affecting the construction and development sector, proactively identifying opportunities and risks to inform strategic decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity within the construction or real estate industry.
- Strong technical expertise in financial reporting, analysis, and control frameworks, with a solid understanding of GAAP principles and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
- Proven track record of driving process improvements, implementing best practices, and optimizing financial performance in a dynamic and evolving business environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across functions and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Strategic mindset with a results-oriented approach, coupled with a strong sense of integrity, ethics, and professionalism in all aspects of work.
- Experience with ERP systems and financial software applications; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other analytical tools preferred.
